On March 29th, an AWMN user reported that, during a wireless scan, using a 60cm-diameter satellite dish in horizontal polarity on Loutsa (near Athens) got signal from a wireless connection with SSID ‘MWN-Tinos-Vougli-Link’ of the user DungeonMaster of MWN (Mykonos Wireless Network), which connects Mykonos with Tinos, two islands being 130km away from Loutsa and beyond the horizon.

After the first dispute on the results, new scans were performed on April 1st (April Fools’ Day :) ), accomplishing a premature link, and even getting routes from BGP daemon. It looked like a pretty big lie, but it was true. The connection was done in 2.4GHz and channel 6.

More about it: here (in Greek language).
